Biography: Bernardo Martorell worked in Barcelona where he was first documented in 1427. He later traveled to Catalonia and was the leading painter there in the middle of the 15th century. His only surviving, documented work is the altarpiece of St. Peter of Pubol. Martorell worked in a style that is considered International Gothic but he also displays mastery of drama and light.
