Biography:
Carlo Marochetti was an outstanding Italian sculptor who made himself a successful career in his home country and abroad. He was made a baron in Italy. In France, he was awarded the Legion of Honor. He moved permanently to England in 1848 and was employed by Queen Victoria and Prince Albert. His sculpture was often dramatic, as is seen in his depiction of Richard the Lionheart that is located outside of the Houses of Parliament
